DESCRIPTION:\n\nEvery year\, a three-day training course for high school teachers and scientific journalists is organized by the INFN Frascati National Laboratory.\nIn the 2016 edition\, participants attended dedicated lectures on Modern Physics and were then organized in small working group for an hands-on training on specific experimental activities under the guidance of INFN researchers. For each working group\, the tutors provided an introductive seminar on the specific subject followed by an active guide to the laboratory measurements.\nMUSE researchers organized a working group on Particle Detection with Scintillating Materials\, focusing on readout techniques. The innovative SiPM photosensors\, used in the Mu2e calorimeter\, had been compared with traditional photomultipliers. The goal of the laboratory experience was to understand pros and cons of the two readout techniques.
